DetailF plate series

This was an experiment with ceramic surfaces. To engrave a design into the objects' glaze with the help of the Spirit GE Laser Cutter.

1] You need an Illustrator file of your idea/image in black and white (vektor graphic).

2] Get a side plate (in this case it was glazed stoneware) and make sure your image fits within the plates size.

3] Settings for the Spirit GE Laser Cutter: speed: 25, power: 100, PPI: 400

4] Make sure that the Laser can move over the higher edge of the plate, if your image is as big as mine and the Laser is beneath that hight, it moves the whole plate in the process! So it's better not to use the Auto Focus, and keep it just a little higher than the actual plates' hight.

5] The result is a melting of the glaze, so the matte structured image becomes a nice contrast to the glossy glaze.
